Chinese export teabowl & a similar saucer, of lobed and ribbed flower petal form, painted in the Japanese manner with panels of foliage framed by brocade patterns in gold with chrysanthemum flower head motif on a pale orange ground.
Circa 1750
References: This was a popular pattern in Europe, and extensively copied at Worcester in the 18th century. The paleness of the ground is unusual, often being iron red instead. It is a faithful replica of the Japanese original C. 1700, ref. Impey 'Japanese export porc
Condition: hairline to cup, flaws to rims, saucer a marriage
