Chinese Export covered milk jug, painted with a continuous landscape probably in London in an extraordinary palette of pink sea and yellow land, with various figures fishing and gesturing, a church with silhouette figures walking, boats on the water, a yellow lollypop tree in the distance, and a large knarled tree looming over the whole scene.
The porcelain c.1740, the decoration slightly later in Europe, c. 1745.
References: ref. Espir -European decoration on Oriental porcelain- p224 for a cup & saucer with similar decoration, but clobbered over a blue & white pattern.
Condition: minor flaw to handle & spout glaze
