Antique Japanese Meiji Period c.1900 Shigaraki shochu wine jar used for transporting shochu rice wine to the ancient capital of Kyoto. Shigaraki was one of the most famed kiln centers outside of Kyoto, known for their distinctive glazes, tea utensils and stoneware. The blue and green alternating striped overglazes were a trademark Shigaraki look. Crackled glaze. Perfect condition. c.1900. (21" x 12") (53cm x 30cm).
