Late 17th to 18th century Early Qing Dynasty Daqi Lacquered altar table. Daqi lacquering technique used mostly in the Song and Ming periods, lacquer was applied over a fabric underlay (daqi), which was soaked in a mixture of thickened lacquer and pasted onto the surface of the wood. This created a very thick over coating of lacquer that is very distinguishable and desirable. This table also has one solid wood top with many character viens with deep ware into the wood.
