In its original silk-lined teak presentation box is this finely detailed three-footed silver bearing the hallmark of noted Canton silversmith Gem Wo and the mark of highest purity. Cast feet in neo-Rococo style contrast with the strongly Chinese elements of bamboo leaves on the border and a central stylized scene of craggy mountains rising above land and water below. Weighing about 13.5 ounces and being about nine inches in diameter and 1-1/2 inches high, the piece is an extraordinary example of China Trade merchandise. A label on the inside repeats information inscribed on the outside of the box. Circa 1850-1860.
