Antique Japanese utsubatai in the original box signed "Sendai-Maki" which is the style of bronze flower vase with raised circling. Very unusual. Also written on the box is 'murasaki-do' which is a type of colored bronze created with the 'yutenki' technique of dipping the bronze in hot oil.
