This is a vegetable dyed wool, warp faced twill cloak, comprised of three panels with brocaded lozenge motifs within bands. The seams are unmatched and hand sewn and it is edged on the inside with wide cotton binding which is very worn with use. Earlier examples such as this, are characterized by a tighter weave with fewer rows of pattern. In very good used condition with no holes, but the interior tape or binding, is heavily worn as shown. Size 53" wide x 43" in length. Period 1875-1900
