Important and rare Meiji Period c.1860 bronze zen buddhist temple incense burner. Before patrons would enter the temple they would light incense in this cauldron and clap their hands and bow thus purifying themselves. 150 years of incense ash. Beautiful swirl on the front in raised releif. Large handles attached with bronze pins. Mythical lion head tripod legs. Ask for shipping quote. (H:20" Diameter 14")
