Beautifully elegant hand carved Meiji Period c.1900 wood zen temple candlestands. This pair would have been on the altar of a buddhist temple. Copper rings and metalwork. The base is carved in the shape of a chrysanthemum. The textured ridged poles are equally impressive. Many layers of maroon lacquer create a wonderful patina. Some wax still on base from candles.
