A classical moonlit landscape is depicted on the central panel of this exquisite work of art, no doubt a work-sample for larger pieces of furniture. On a ground of chocolate-brown lacquer are painted forests and river, along which are trees, mountains,a villa, a small boat and two small figures on a bridge observing the scene, all in green, red and gilt lacquers. The incorporated frame has diapered sections interspersed with stylized floral motifs. Overall fine condition, with some slight,stabilized flaking. Approximately 15-1'2 inches by 8-1/4 inches by 3/8 inch deep.Chinese, late Eighteenth Century to early Nineteenth Century.
