Chinese carved ivory doctor's model or doll. This is a finely carved nude figure of an adult Chinese women that was traditionally used by Chinese doctors to aid in patient diagnosis as it was forbidden to touch a women, even for medical purposes. This elegant reclining nude figure has bound feet and long delicate fingers. She is wearing a simple bracelet on each wrist. Her hair is pulled into a tight knot. Her hair and her eyes have been lightly colored black. Fresh from a local Brooklyn estate. Very fine original condition. Complete with wooden base. 10" long x 2 3/4" wide.
