An rare and endearing figure of a young boy disciple of Quanyin (the Goddess of Compassion) wearing a garment etched with a lotus flower - the symbol of Buddhism. He is often depicted near Quanyin with his hands in reverential prayer. The bronze is heavily cast and has wires imbedded underneath the pedestal, perhaps for attaching to a group of figures. (see photo)
Period: Song (11th-13th C)
Size: Height: 19.5 cm (7-5/8 inches)
Condition: No repairs. Has a nice patina.
