A large lacquered wood mask in the form of a demon with bulging eyes and the kangi for King in a red circle on its forehead. Probably a festival or theater mask. A dramatic mask from the late Qing Dynasty. May have had a lower jaw? Shows wear from use and age but is in good overall condition. Much of the original lacquer remains. There is some minor loss in the interior but it does not effect the integrity of the mask. late 19th to early 20thC. H:15", W:12.5".
