In its original signed box, this wonderful antique Japanese Meiji Period, c.1890 bronze hibachi was specifically made for a tea ceremony room. The bronze was smoked in straw smoke after firing to achieve the luscious brown coloring. The bronze craftsmanship is of the highest level. On each side of the hibachi in exquisite raised relief are three different scenes framed. one, is a crane in bamboo; sparrow on a tree branch, a parakeet on a cherry branch and birds and butterflies.
