The 'nengo' or written dates around this huge bronze antique Japanese temple gong read: Meiji 18 (1885) from Manshozan Daikaku-in, a soto sect Buddhist temple in present day Tottori prefecture. This temple was established in Keicho 5 (1605) and was one of the Royal family`s branch temples thus the 16 petal design on the rim.
