Inscripted on the rim of this antique Japanese Zen Buddhist bronze bell is the name of the temple, Kaishoji, a zen buddhist temple in Azuchi, where Oda Nobunaga created one of Japan's foremost castle towns. Also the date of the bell is Meiji 38 October (1906). The names of the donors, all women, are also inscripted on the rim. The sound is reverberating and unending.
