Meiji Period c.1890 zen buddhist temple lantern signed on the bottom by the maker, Urai Masuemon, and the place of the temple, Soraku-gun, Higashibata, in Okayama south of Kyoto. The under leafs on the top have buddhist cloud patterns as well as the main body. The metal is a copper alloy mixed with a bit of bronze. The doors swing open and an oil dish with wick was placed inside. The metal needs a polish but other wise in perfect condition. Ask for shipping quote. (H:40cm; diameter:32cm)
