Fabulous Kano Yasunobu (1613-1685) carp scroll swimming up a waterfall the quintessential symbol of courage and determination in Japan. Black and white on silk. Kano Yasunobu studied under Kano Koi and his elder brother Tan'yu in Kyoto and later went with Tan'yu to Edo. Became goyo eshi to the shogun and later given the rank of Hogen.
