For centuries the Shaman of the Himalayan Hill Tribes have been driving away evil spirits, curing aliments and attracting the favorable attention of the ancestor spirits and gods. Our wonderful example of a Shamans bell necklace shows the effects of years of use while performing these tasks. On the hand made chain there is suspended a variety of bells including three cast brass bells and a mixture of 14 hand made steel and or brass bells, each with a distinctive voice. The chain is 44" in length and there is a total of 17 bells. All show wear from much use and age with some rust on the metal bells. 19th Century.
