Rare set of 4 Meiji Period c.1900 yukata kimono stencils from Ise. Each piece is 2 laminated sheets of mulberry paper treated with a persimmons tanin and aged for 2 years by smoking for strength. The stencil carver then makes his or her own tools to carve out the desired patterns which are then applied with rice resist for the desired dying.
