For Auction I have a lovely piece of Art Glass made by Wilhelm Kralik Sohn of Eleonorenhain Bohmen (Bohemia). This is now modern day "Czechoslovakia". It is a large Art Deco Shaped Vessel with an Accordion Style Belly. It is a rather good size vase as it measures 7 1/8" tall and is 5 7/8" wide.
The Vase Displays five wide Sea Grass Style Decorations rising up from the bottom of the vessel. They reach the top band of the "Accordion" part of the Vase. There are also thin Reeds in between each Leaf of Grass which is very pleasing. The colors of the Leaves and Reeds are a Neon Green softly muting into a Pea Green. They are outlined with a Translucent Cobalt Blue and the Effect it creates is Just Stunning!! The Leaves and Reeds are set on a Clear or what is referred in Kralik's Line as a Uranium Background or Base Glass.
This Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no chips, cracks, nicks or dings. The piece was blown from the top, and not the bottom. This was typical of Kralik as their American Contemporaries such as Tiffany Favrile, Steuben Aurene, Durand and Quezal blew almost of their Vases from the bottom. This explains the Countersunk Polished Pontil. The Vase is signed with the Acid Etched "Czechoslovakia" in block lettering and is the most commonly found Kralik Signature Mark.
This is a quality piece of European Art Glass and would enhance any Art Glass Collection. The Vase would make a lovely addition to any Art Deco or Art Nouveau Decor. This piece was made, Circa 1905-1920. I'm sure the lucky winner will be elated with their purchase.
