Exquisite antique Art Deco bronze nude dancer inscribed Dyson-Smith 1925 (Charles William Dyson-Smith). This artist's sculptures are very rare. I researched the Art Net data base and found only two sculptures sold at auction by this artist. One was a lead sculpture of two children circa 1930 it was sold at Sotheby's Melbourne August 22nd 1994 for $5,989.00. The second listing is another Art Deco sculpture dated 1931. It is a torso of a bronze bather and sold for $5,549.00 at Sotheby's London May 24th 1990. The sculpture we are offering is perhaps the artists best piece. It is an exquisite Art Deco nude female dancer. Exceptionally beautiful showing wonderful motion, design and quality matching the best Art Deco bronzes ever produced. The beautiful nude dancer measures 13-1/2 inches high. The base measures 6-1/8 inches long by 3-1/4 inches wide. Not including he base the bronze measures 12-1/2 inches to the top of her hands. She is dancing on her toes perfectly balanced. This beautiful sculpture captures the feeling and expression of the Art Deco movement. Since only two of this artist's bronzes have appeared at auction one comes to expect his works re extremely rare.
