Purchased in Europe, we found this piece to be a striking statement of political reality of war-time Europe. Rough partial translation from French reads: Committee of Coordinated Resistance Movements: We have noticed that foreigners are presenting themselves in different stores and farms in the Grand La Louviere region and requisitioning items supposedly under mandates from the resistance. We invite our comrades to refuse these requisitions and to notify the central office of infractions of this nature. The only authorized requisition forms must carry the seal of the organization and the signature of the responsible boss, but also the seal of the Neighbourhood Administration and the signature of its mayor. Signed, the heads of the resistance, Chateau Ponceau, Hamoir Street, La Louviere. Signed on 16 September 1944 and printed by L. Charlier Wrey of La Louviere. In very good condition - we had this piece professionally linen mounted in order to preserve its historical and physical integrity. Printed by IJE Buschmann in Antwerp. Measures 11 x 17 inches.
