Count Regley de Koenigsegg began a military career in the French navy in 1839. After three decades of military service he retired with the rank of brigadier general and Commandante de la Legion d'Honneur. Keonigsegg had done drawing and some printmaking in the early 1850's but after his retirement in 1895, he began a series of miniature paintings and posters. This poster (circa 1900), in the style of master Louis Galice, is exceptional in its detail and definition, as well as in its use of proto-photo images - note the face of the woman protagonist. The original French Tax Stamp is visible on the face of the poster.
