The political scene in Quebec has always been a source of inspiration for artists and social commentators - as well as for poster artists. As Marc Choko writes, inhis definitive works on Quebec posters: ''In Quebec, as in other parts of the world, the end of the 1960s and the decade of the 1970''s were marked by an abundance of social movements. The radicalization of certain independant political parties (those who wished to separate from the rest of Canada) after October 1970, the powerful rise of unions.... were reflected in the manner and material of a vaste number of militant posters. This one celebrates the ''5 jours des prisonniers politiques quebecois'' (5 days of Quebec''s Political Prisoners), and appears to have been a 5 day arts festival with concerts, film screenings, panel discussions and auctions, all for the benefit of political prisoners. In excellent condition, with pinholes in extreme corners. This poster was in the private collection of a noted jazz musician and producer and is only one of hundreds which we have just received. The others will be appearing in our ebay store shortly. The poster measures 18 x 24 inches and is unframed. All of our posters, prints and pochoirs are authentic, vintage items.
