Superb 20th C English Watercolor By Artist: Michael E. Barnard Who Was Born In London In 1942. He studied European Art, particularly British painting in the 19th and 20th century. He trained as a restorer of paintings whilst at the same time began painting original watercolors. His work includes many scenes from the Kent countryside as well as wildlife studies and, more importantly highly detailed still life works with bird''s nests and wild flowers. Barnard''s landscapes have a wealth of detail and influence of the Pre-Raphaelites, particularly John Brett is evident in this work. His still life paintings are inspired by William Henry Hunt (1790-1864), who was affectionately known as ''Bird''s Nest Hunt''. Hunt had deformed legs and began an artistic career early in his life. He exhibited in the Royal Academy when he was only 17 years old, and became a major influence on many victorian painters. Hunt''s work lives on through Michael Barnard. Barnard is a committed naturalist. He has been warden for the Kent Trust for Nature conservation and a member of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. His paintings have been purchased for private collections in Europe, North American, England, and Australia to name a few.
