Fannie Burr oil on canvas still life with apples on a pewter plate and autumnal branches in a globular glass vase. This dark, velvety and rather moody scene was a sophisticated departure from this artist's usual landscapes and portraits. Canvas is 20 x 16; frame is 23.5 x 19.5. Good estate condition with minor cracqueleure. Fannie Burr (1858-1931) was born into Monroe, CT's most prominent family. Her father was a very successful farmer. She attended and graduated from Mt Holyoke College and the Yale School of Fine Arts, and studied at the Art Students League in NYC.
