Oil on Canvas of a Ship on the Ocean in the Moonlight. Signed by Wesley Webber and dated 1904. Wesley Elbridge Webber a very well known landscape and maritime painter was born in Gardineer, Maine in 1839 and died in Wollaston, Massachusetts in 1914. In addition to being a fine maritime artist, he is considered one of the finer landscape painters who painted from life in the Conway area of New Hampshire and along the New England Coast and he is reminiscent of the Hudson River School in style and manner. The canvas on this painting measures 24" X 16 3/4" And the frame appears to be original with no evidence of restoration.
