Large oil pencils or pastels on paper piece by Eugene Smythe. Sometimes signed Smyth. Incredible trompe de oiel piece that well causes your eyes to play tricks on you. The first several times I saw this piece I thought it was merely a photograph of a beach scene. But after looking closer I saw it was indeed a painting and was amazed at the rocks and moss in the foreground they look so alive and real. Its hard to photo this effect but it is amazing in person. Quite large at 28'' by 24'' in frame and 20'' by 16'' sight. Impressive. Sorry for glare in the picture.
