SOLD Antique 19th century, Jerusalem School, Mother-of-Pearl Orthodox Christian Icon of convex oval form, finely carved in low relief with a central arched niche depicting The Nativity, flanked by two smaller arched niches depicting the scene of the Annunciation, with the winged angel on the right and the kneeling Holy Virgin on the left. Engraved underneath “NATIVITA†and surrounded with floral adornment. Mounted in circular gild frame on a velvet background.

CONDITION: The icon is in very good condition free of cracks, repairs, or restorations, except for one chip on the edge. The framing is a later addition.
MEASUREMENTS: Dimensions with the frame: 28 cm (11 in). Height of the shell: 15.3 cm (6 in).
Due to the shiny surface of the Mother-of-Pearl, it is difficult to photograph. The pictures do not show the details of the carving or the real sparkling pearl color of the surface
