A lovely Icon of the Dormition of the Mother of Christ from the Late 18th Century. The iconography portrays The Mother of God in her deathbed surrounded by 11 Apostles and Christ, who is depicted carrying the soul of Mary in the form of a baby. The missing twelfth apostle would be St. Thomas, who according some stories did not arrive until later.
