Original era manufacture. Classic West Point Cadet dress shako, a uniform style inspired by those worn by the US Army during the Niagra Campaign during the War of 1812. When during the battle of Chippawa in New York, British General Riall is supposed to have exclaimed as Winfield Scott's troops advanced through heavy fire while wearing militia gray, "Those are Regulars, By God!" Synthetic body and top, with a black wool covering, brass trimmed front visor, and stamped brass West Point emblem at front. Inside the crown is a period tag, reading LAING MP '68 (1968?), along with another label bearing names of men, perhaps fellow classmates. Light age and wear, removable black lambs wool pompom.
