Watercolor by Denver Colorado artist W.G.Alfred Jones Item#8340 Circa 1880 Size: 11'' high by 9'' wide framed 7'' high by 4'' wide image only This is an landscape watercolor by W.G. Alfred Jones born in England in 1819 an died in New York in 1900. He was an engraver and painter of landscapes. He had a love of the Rocky Mountains and painted a series he called the Rocky Mountain series. They were sold through an art store located at 404 Barclay Block Denver, Colorado. The painting has a picture of the artist in his elderly years sketching in a field under an umbrella. During his life he was active and exhibited in The American Watercolor Society and The National Academy of Design. He is listed in Davenport''s, Falk''s Who''s Who in American At and Tyler''s Painters of the West. It has been on my desk for many years and would fit into any decor. A charming small painting that would make a wonderful gift. The glare on the painting is just flash back from the green silk velvet mat and the gold bullion filet. It is in excellent condition.
