Gorgeous mountain landscape oil painting on canvas by Samuel Lancaster Gerry. Approximately 21" x 29" WITHOUT the frame. WITH the frame it measures 26 1/2" x 34 1/2". Signed GERRY 1852 lower right. This painting depicts a wonderful mountain landscape with buildings by a lake. It has a waterfall, mountain goats, sheep, a cow, boats on the water, 2 gentlemen riding on horseback and a young girl walking a goat. Samuel Lancaster Gerry, American, 1813-1891. He was President of the Boston Art Club in 1858. He was a Hudson River School painter and leader of the White Mountain School. He was co-founder of the Boston Art Club. He lived in Europe.
