Jules-Auguste Etienne, 19th/20th c. French, "Twilight Before the Storm," oil on board, 9 1/4 x 13 inches, inscribed on verso, "Crepuscule avant l'orage sur l'Allier (environs de Vichy) par J. Etienne, 56 Rue de la Vilette Paris XIXem." Also verso, in a different hand, is the date 18-11-28. According to Benezit, Etienne exhibited in the Salon des Artistes Francais in 1923. Period walnut frame.
