Little framed plaque with a painting of an Italian landscape with figures. The figures appear to be farm workers or peasant women. Very nice frame of brass or maybe ormulu with beautifully executed laurel leaf circle. Scene may be painted on metal - it is under slightly domes glass. There is no backing as such, the painting and glass being kept in place by fold-over brass or copper tongues. Whole item measures 9 cm diameter (3.1/2 inches). Excellent condition, with just one tiny foxing spot.
