Emile Bayard 1837 1891 As you like it; original watercolour signed 1886 11 x 16 inches in frame with glass 32 x 21 inches; signed by artist ~ this is one of the most important illustrators/artists from France, iconic are his illustrations to Les Miserables, with most famous the illustration of Cosette (the famous girl with broom) , the image still used for the musical with the same name; and hence known by millions ~ other masterpieces include An affair of honour, but also the fabulous illustration from Sans Famille (no family) fabulous illustrations of the boy with the harp, with his animal friends...
Depicted here the classic Shakespeare tale, again the scarce frontispiece (titled Rosalind gives Orlando a chain) Grisaille painting, with gold and pink tones; museum quality... this is again a very well listed artist, collected in museums, universities and private, throughout the world ~ very scarce
