James Abbot McNeil Whistler (American, 1834-1903) etching and drypoint, La Vieille au Loques (The Old Rag Seller), 1858. Signed in the plate. This is Plate 8 of "Douze eaux-fortes d'apres nature" (Twelve Etchings From Nature,) which was the result of the artist's tour through northern France, Luxembourg, and the Rhineland during 1858. This collection is also known as The French Set. Condition is excellent, and the etching is offered in a contemporary frame with archival matting. Size: 8 1/8 inches x 5.75 inches on laid paper.
