Wax Miniature Portrait. Cream; blue; gold; clear. Wax; glass and wood. The carved wax miniature is a bust of Napoleon in military uniform. It is mounted on a blue painted board. It has a cream colored mat edged in gold leaf and is covered with glass in a gold leaf frame. The frame has a metal ring in the top for hanging. A hand written label on the back reads, "This pusse with the head of Bonaparte on it was given to me by W. Nicholson in 1801..." A printed label reads, "G. Careless, Carver, Gilder & Picture Frame Maker, 13, Marchmont Street, Russell Square, W.C."
