The first quarter page engraving is titled, "George Peabody, Esq." It has the initialed signature, "WJ" of William Samuel Lyon Jewett in the lower left corner. The second quarter page engraving is titled, "Commodore Farragut.--(From a Photograph by Holmes, 264 Broadway, New York.)" It is likely the work of William Samuel Lyon Jewett. The third half page wood engraving is titled, "Charge of the First Massachusetts Regiment on a Rebel Rifle Pit Near Yorktown.--Sketched by Mr. W. Homer." It shows a large group of Union soldiers running toward a battle scene. A mounted officer, with drawn sword, follows. Civil War
