Takeshi Takahara, Japanese-born American, is a master printmaker who today uses the intaglio process to produce his dramatic prints. This early piece, a woodblock print, was created in 1966 or 1967, and the subject was the poet Dylan Thomas. A professor emeritus of printmaking and drawing at the University of Michigan School of Art and Design, he has had over 40 solo exhibitions and more than 80 competitive, invitational and group exhibitions, both in the U.S. and internationally -- in Japan, Germany, Brazil, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Yugoslavia, Italy and England. Pencil signed, number 8 of 25. The dimensions given below are for the framed piece; image size is 21 1/2" x 16 3/4".
