Marcel Rieder 1862 1942 Albert Schweitzer, signed dated with self-portrait (in self-portrait) and large extra inscription 1909 charcoal ~ important drawing 17 x 21 inches, of this Nobel Laureate; with to the right of the depiction a self-portrait with initials of the artist, Marcel Rieder; a very well listed artist, and with an extra inscription in French reading: A Albert Schweitzer le musicien-poete organist de la societe Bach son admirateur ami et choiriste Marcel Rieder '09 ~ At this point in Schweitzer's liefe he'd written works on Bach, and co-founded the Paris Bach Soceity, in which he played the organ (he was an extremely gifted organist; many recordings of the laureate exist playing/performing Bach) The artist Rieder sang in the choir, and the two were great friends... very scarce indeed... this the original, the bach museum has a copy of the work, but this is the actual work, with original frame ~ of historic importance; for those whom collect Nobel Laureates (peace 1952) &
