Original drypoint etching titled ‘Sous le Toit’ (literally Under the Roof, commonly referred to as ‘Attic Room’) by French artist Louis Justin Icart (1888-1950), appropriately signed and numbered. The picture portrays a young woman with curly brown hair who has just risen from sleep standing between a bed and a dresser on which is a clock, lamp and radio; her back to the viewer, she is standing on tip toes in pink high heeled slippers, wearing a very short full slip with one shoulder strap slipped off, peering out a window in the slant ceiling of her attic room. Behind her from the ceiling hangs a rectangular bird cage holding two small birds, also peering out the window.
