A most fine late 18th century Italian chinoiserie scene of a man and woman fishing . Chinese fretwork bridge in background and the figures are also in oriental garb but with rather European facial features and the woman with a nice rosey cheeked face.
A rather rococo palette (especially blues greens reminiscent of Fragonard) .Photo 5 is most accurate for color
Heavy crackle throughout but no obvious touchups (not viewed under a black light ) .
Frame (5 inch) is not orginal but lavish and done in 18K gold leaf.
