Gilbert Stuart, American, 1755-1828, engraving by Cornelius Tiebout (1770-1830) after Stuart, "George Washington", image size: 20 1/8 x 13 inches, sheet size: 25 x 18 inches, This engraving is after the "Landsdowne" portrait, named for the British nobleman who commissioned the original painting by Stuart. It was fist published by Tiebout in 1801. This is a later restrike issued by William Smith, Philadelphia, c. 1865.
