Julio Venegas - Esperanza Julio Venegas was born onSeptember221946inCentral Violeta, (a sugar factory town) Camaguey, Cuba.In 1969 he moved to Havanain order to study fine art at San Alejandro Art School. While at school, he worked as full time salaried fine art painter for Cuban Ministry of Public Health. The rehepainted landscapes and decorative subjects for different departments of that ministry.In1980heemigrated to the United States during the Mariel Boatlift. Rather than settle in Miami, like many other fellow artists and writers, he moved to New York City where heel the could better develop his art. Venegas is a prolific artist and his work has been exhibited atmany art galleries and cultural places as Sareido Gallery, Soho,New York; Jadite Galleries, New York; Cuban Museum, Miami, Florida; Botello Gallerie, San Juan, Puerto Rico; Paterson Museum, Paterson, New Jersey; Watherholt Gallery,Washington DC,among others.His works including everything from traditional oil on canvas paintings, to painted sculptures made from recycled objects. Venegas has been working on different subjects, but always the psychological factor is evident on his works.
