Pair of drypoint etchings of dancers by Elyse Lord. Each of the three matching frames measures 18 by 12 and one half inches. The prints measure 6 by 10 inches. Very good original condition. One is numbered 9/50 and the other one is 10/50. Signed bottom right. Elyse Ashe Lord, British, 1900-1971. One of England's greatest graphic artists specializing in the delicate art of drypoint etching, Elyse Ashe Lord was elected to the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours in 1922 and was also a member of the Society of Graver-Printers in Colour. She favored etching exotic and Far Eastern figure subjects, treating them in delicate and imaginative colors. Lord actively exhibited from 1915 through 1939 in London with the famed Lefevre Gallery, who with London dealer Alexander Reid published her work. Her art was also shown at the Royal Academy of Arts, the Royal institute, the Royal Scottish Academy, the Walker Art Gallery of Liverpool, the Fine Art Society and The Paris Salon, where she received the silver medal for color prints. In addition, her work was published in Masters of the Colour Print, Volume 1, 1927, with an introduction by Malcolm C. Salaman.
