Antique Portrait miniature in oil on copper, of a red-bearded gentleman, circa 1650. Measures almost 2 1/4inches long.Oval shape. Man with high forehead, balding, light red beard in dark clothes and white muslin collar. At this time, only royalty and extremely important people had their portraits painted in miniatures, so although we do not know who the sitter is, he must be a person of stature/high status. The work is beautifully executed in the manner of the Dutch masters like Reubens and would look good in any museum. Looking through a loupe, we can even see minute details like his eyelashes. Wonderful quality and a rare item. The paint has endured wonderfully and the work is in excellent condition. Status: For Sale Reference#: 2448 Condition: See Description Year: See Description
