Kaethe Kollwitz (1867-1945) Original 1st State Woodcut before 1933 Title: Mary & Elizabeth, signed lower right. In excellent condition. Great as an artist, as well as a woman, she depicted with maternal sympathy and compelling mastery the tragedies and sufferings of the common people. Her work carries a tremendous emotional impact and places her among the foremost graphic artists of the 20th century.
