Irani Persian miniature, hand painted on probably mica - depicts three polo players in a landscape. The panel is mounted into an intricately hand painted surround, and the whole is framed under glass in a Khatam work frame, probably from Isfahan, Iran. Easel back to frame. KhÄtam is a Persian version of marquetry, made by decorating the surface of wooden articles with delicate pieces of wood, bone and metal in precisely-cut geometrical shapes with gilding.
The whole measures 20cm by 25cm (8 inches by 10 inches), the painted panel measures 5 cm by 10 cm. All in excellent condition.
